Vitebsk – Gotland. Cooperation proceeds

The delegation of the Swedish island Gotland at the head the governor of a county Gotland Mariann Samuelson has arrived one of these days with working visit on Vitebshchinu.

At a meeting of madam Mariann Samuelson with the mayor of Vitebsk Victor Nikolajkinym cooperation questions in different spheres were discussed.

Madam Samuelson in Vitebsk already in the second time also knows that in a city there is Open Society "Dolomite" which not too well influences environment. On Gotland the large dolomitic enterprise which delivers the too works

Production for export. Its experts are ready to share with Vitebsk "Dolomite" technological novelties that the enterprise put less harm to environment, and to promote introduction of technologies on use of heat which is developed during dolomite manufacture. For example, on Gotland the dolomitic enterprise supplies with surpluses of heat and the electric power ice arena and a football ground.

Cooperation between Vitebsk and Gotland lasts four years within the limits of the project “the Panorama: Dvina/Daugava” which urged to develop tourism between three states participating in the project, – Belarus, Sweden and Latvia. To increase a stream of tourists in both countries and to reduce time for road, Mariann Samuelson's madam has informed: the Swedish party is ready to make everything to open the direct aircraft service “Vitebsk – Visbi”, and shortly the Swedish experts will arrive to Vitebsk to study technical possibilities of our airport.

The mayor of Vitebsk Victor Nikolajkin has invited to Vitebsk the Swedish investors to an investment forum which will pass on July, 10th, and at the same time it will present possibility to learn that such “the Slavic market in Vitebsk” which opening will take place this very day. And madam Samuelson has in turn suggested business circles of Vitebsk to visit island in the near future that in common with Swedish businessmen to consider the further actions on realisation of all offers.

Also both parties have become interested in cooperation on linen manufacture.

– In Sweden, and especially on Gotland, flax and products from it use huge demand, – has underlined Mariann Samuelson and admitted that itself on the eve of a meeting has bought in Vitebsk department store of 10 metres of the Belarus flax and is very happy with its quality.

The chairman of the Polotsk Executive Committee of the City Soviet of People's Deputies and the governor of Gotland have entered into the agreement on working out of the concept of creation of wind power stations in Polotsk to provide region with alternative kinds of energy. On Gotland the considerable quantity of wind-driven generators so there is an experience which the Swedish experts are ready to share with the Belarus colleagues already functions.

Within the limits of the project “the Panorama: Dvina/Daugava” in June in Polotsk it is planned to hold a seminar for hotels and restaurants on conducting tourist business, and in August for an exchange of experience to Vitebsk there will arrive the Swedish designers.

At final conference following the results of the project in October prospects of the further cooperation between Vitebsk and Gotland will be planned.
